CITY COUNCIL MEMBER SITE INSPECTION: Our thanks to City Council Member Rhonda Bolton for making time for a project briefing and Site inspection at Ascon. Along with City of Huntington Beach staff and representatives from DTSC, Council Member Bolton walked the 38-acre Site and viewed previously excavated areas, the treatment zone, and the remediated Pit F area through the open tent entry chamber.

Did you know: The Pit F tent will begin to be dismantled this week. Trucks leaving the Site with dismantled Pit F tent fabric and framework and also large equipment used during Pit F remediation will depart the Magnolia Street exit gate turning right to Pacific Coast Highway, after being cleared by gate personnel.

Field work at the Ascon Landfill Site during the week of September 6, 2021

Current work: The Pit F active excavation phase was completed August 24, and all Pit F waste has been removed for disposal. The excavation area is now sealed with a hardened concrete-like slurry material between two to three feet thick.
